Features
It is a member of the Bamboo Moray genus, which has a slender body within the Moray eel family, but when fully grown, it can reach a total length of over 3m, making it one of the largest moray eels in the family. Contrary to its appearance, it has a timid personality and will hide in crevices of rocks or in the muddy bottom if it senses danger. It mainly lives in inner bays, but can also be seen in mangrove areas in Okinawa Prefecture.
